GrahamAn Introduction

Boats and sailing have been my passion in life and since my early teenage years I have been "simply messing about in boats", having owned numerous sailing dinghies and small sailing cruisers. On my retirement as a Ships' Agency Manager in East Africa and the Middle East, where for 35 years I was involved with ships and the men who manned them, I have settled on the shores of Lochgoil off the Clyde Estuary where many of the greatest ships and yachts were built - The Cutty Sark, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Shamrocks I and II, Sceptre and Britannia to name but a few.

Since my retirement my love of the sea, sailing and hull form led me to making accurate, detailed, traditional full hull and half-hull models of yachts and work boats. To date I have over 60 of these in my collection. Requests from friends to make models for them developed into my accepting commissions and for the last 10 years I have produced numerous models on this basis.

Some of these have been half-hull trophies for the Melges 24 Class World Championships held in Torquay, a full hull model of a Moody 36 yacht for the British Waterways diarama display at the London Boat Show 2000 and a trophy for the Corribee Owners Association, Flying Fifteen National Championships, 9 trophies for first in class for the East Coast Sailing Week held under the auspices of the Royal Forth Yacht Club in 2004 as well as very many for private individuals who wished to have a model of their yacht.

These entirely hand crafted replicas make ideal birthday or Christmas gifts from a First Mate to her skipper husband or for yacht clubs as race prizes. Or simply for the boat owner who wishes to have a model of his yacht for display in the home.

TESTIMONIALS:

"I couldn't have been more delighted with the half hull of "Solaire". It is beautifully finished and ashtonishingly accurate. I have no idea how you are able to capture so much from some line drawings and a few photographs."

"Thank you so much for the half hull of "Corriander" which arrived safely and in good order this morning. This really is a wonderful piece of work and I know that Dad will be thrilled with his birthday present. Thank you again for the wonderful model. It really does catch the essence of the boat. The lines are replicated beautifully."

"Just fantastic! We are very pleased. Thank you so much."

"I can't thank you enough for the model of "Latifa" which now graces our mantelpiece. I am boring visitors to death by showing it off and everyone thinks it is wonderful because they know the boat and trherefore know how accurate the model is. I notice something new daily e.g. the red knobs on the throttle and gear levers on the flying bridge - WOW!"

"Received the half hull model of "Teko" today and I must congratulate you, it is work of art! The detail is marvellous and we are absolutely delighted with it. Thank you so very much for finding the time to produce this model, it means a great deal to us and will take pride of place on the drawing room wall and I expect it will generate a lot of interest from family and friends. The small details like the compass, stemhead etc. are delightful, as is the superb quality of the planking on the topsides, and such a fine piece of mahogany on which it is mounted. Many thanks for a marvellous piece of work.
Kind Regards"
